What We Do Join The Team FCSAR Team Jr Team Forms Fremont County

The Fremont County Search & Rescue Unit began as a group of civilians with useful equipment and training back in the late 1960s.  If someone had not made it home by a certain time while hunting, fishing, working, or driving in the snow, the concerned party would let a friend or family member know, who in turn called one of these individuals, and the search party was gathered.  In 1972, these citizens created the Fremont County Search and Rescue Unit.

The FCSAR volunteers were from all walks-of-life and occupations, including veterans, Civil Air Patrol, firefighters, and mid-1970s EMTs.  Some had snowmobiles, boats, trail bikes, and 4-wheel drive vehicles.  In the late ‘70’s the Unit purchased its first radio repeater which opened up communications for a large part of the county.
