Fremont County Search and Rescue (FCSAR) is an all-volunteer organization that provides essential search and rescue services throughout Fremont County, Idaho. All members are local volunteers who donate their time and skills to assist people in distress across the county’s remote and challenging environments.
FCSAR’s mission is to locate, assist, rescue, and recover individuals who are lost, injured, or endangered. Volunteers bring specialized training in avalanche rescue, rope operations, swift water rescue, dive recovery, first responder care, tracking, and other technical disciplines that enable the team to respond effectively to complex incidents.

FCSAR is dedicated to educating the public on safe recreation practices and providing guidance on what to do if you become lost. For more information, please visit our Safety Resources page. Additionally, FCSAR supports the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office by providing additional manpower when needed.

Rescue Missions
FCSAR is always ready to respond when a call for assistance is received. The goal of every mission is to locate, stabilize, and extract individuals in distress. Unit members possess the skills, experience, equipment, and training needed to successfully complete their rescue missions.
Rescue missions vary widely and include rescuing or recovering avalanche victims, snowmobilers, hunters, boaters, fishermen, hikers, campers, ATV/motorcyclists, photographers, swimmers, divers, river floaters/tubers, kayakers, rock climbers, spelunkers, horseback riders, and suburban searches.
Highline Training

To ensure FCSAR members are prepared for any emergency, the unit conducts training sessions. Topics include first aid, highline, avalanche and GPS training, search techniques, tracking applications, knot-tying, and more.
American Dog Derby
Community Events
The FCSAR participates in numerous community events including:
Sponsoring and hosting annual Easter egg hunt for the special needs community
Participating in the annual parades in St. Anthony and Ashton
Provide support for the Mesa Falls Marathon & the Ashton American Dog Derby
Cook breakfast at the St. Anthony’s Fishermen’s Breakfast
Support the Fremont County Fair
Support the Idaho State Search and Rescue
